Light is my central subject, and a love of paint is foremost. I begin in nature, and
then the image transforms through the act of painting. The movements of the brush,
and the decisions taken on the picture plane become conduits of feeling.
Always trying to portray the essence of things, I play back and forth on the picture plane, merging imagery and background. The mists and rain of the Pacific Northwest, embedded in my childhood, deeply inform my work. My goal is to create shimmering jewels of abstract beauty that upon closer inspection contain imagery.
My work is intensely autobiographical and the drive is for authenticity. I am an intuitive painter and must follow the inner promptings of my soul. This process often leads to surprising realizations about others and myself.
“Let the beauty we love be what we do.” Rumi
